IN-close Farragut Housing

The IN-close building is a five-story building has a central core with 4 rental units and two wings, each containing 3 owners units with additional rental and commercial spaces on the ground floor. The building’s wings hug and invite pedestrians along the path through the building and housing complex to help promote business and safety. The site location and orientation of the wings, not only acts as a guide, but also acts as a passive solar strategy, inviting both people and light into the building. With the shading devices and channel glass façade the building needs almost no heating during the winter. Our vision being that IN-close would be an economically and environmentally conscious building model.

on architecture & conception

I never thought that taking a survey or listening in on a lecture would determine entirely what I would do with the rest of my life, but sometimes it happens. It is those spontaneous moments that always amuse me, like finding that perfect building form while eating potato chips.
